Psyvariar 2 – The Will To Fabricate

Apparently…

Space Year 425.
The GUIS (Galactic Unified Intelligence System) which collapsed under a surprise attack by the Medium Unit, stopped functioning and never revolted against mankind again. However, by committing unspeakable acts, GUIS sowed the seeds of trouble for future generations of humans.

Space Year 426.
After the death of the great leader, mankind completely lost its direction. Some people called for the restoration of GUIS. Some spoke in support of the new Psyvariars, with praise for the Medium Units, and some did nothing but watch and wait. Some took solace in religion. Horrendous conflicts erupted all over the world - early signs of the cataclysm that was to come.

We want to shoot big, nasty robot men until they blow up.

Space Year 423.
Suddenly, the conflicts ceased as if it had never happened. This peaceful settlement was the result of psychic interference by Lambda. Lambda had worked out a psychic reform program on its own and for a long time implemented it in secret. Lambda judged that the resoration of the GUIS regime would be nothing but a fetter that would delay the progress of mankind. Lambda sought to promote the legitimate evolution of mankind and to construct a society controlled by mankind itself. That effort was the construction of Psyvariar society. Building this new society and launching it smoothly was an enormous task, requiring prodigious time and effort. Yet there was no doubt that mankind had taken the first step towards a new era.

Zero Year 113.
While the psyvariar population was increasing and its civilisation developing, the Order Of Spiritual Entropy (WOSE) became aware of the presence of ‘The Will To Fabricate’ behind the scenes. When WOSE realised, the collapse of their religious community would be just around the corner.

We want lots of noise, explosions and pretty bullet patterns.

It started to develop Eta – a psychical systematic artificial intelligence (PSAI) in order to supplement the fading cognitive memories of the community.

Zero year 121.
WOSE managed to complete a prototype of Eta – although its cognitive memories were severely eroded. Before its total collapse, WOSE successfully transferred its cognitive memories to Eta and sent it to planet Earth.

If we want silly stories, we will watch films and read books.

Soon our cognitive memories will fall into oblivion because of the dark plot of The Will To Fabricate.

Dear Eta… Fulfill your duties as the guardian of our thoughts and purify this world of fabrication. Restore the great God and re-establish the world by the sword of Intention.

Zero Year 1088.
And now the new great war begins.

...aaand relax.

Psyvariar 2 is an ace shooting game which is like Psyvariar on the PS2 only with nicer, Ikaruga-like graphics and it’s a bit harder and the bosses are absolutely top and it looks gorgeous and even the music is quite good.

SICKBOY, March 2004.

RODENT CASH RATING - Well worth twenty or so pounds of anyone’s income.

Things to 'Make' and 'Do'.

Shmups. Lovely zappy-obsessed people with a dead friendly and helpful forum.

Crazy-ass shooter ‘Superplay’ videos – including a frankly terrifying one for the original Psyvariar.

Official. Probably a good idea to learn how to speak Japanese before going here.
