It will end as it began .... what really happened! Part 1

It will end as it began! or maybe to be totally accurate the title should have been "it will continue in much the same manner as it did 15 years ago" but that did not sound as good. Happy Dayz!

This installation or rambling from Marky's brain is really about 2 lives, the world and life of Koworld and mine. Tis a story steeped in fun, friendship and toasted gravel wizards (gravel wizards = sandwiches or "sand witches”)

Twas a day almost forgotton and right back in in 1978. There lived a group of lads including Frazer Edminson, Steve Elliott, Michael Tyrrell and our good selves. First real fun memories of Koworld involved playing on a saturday morning in his mums lounge with the Binatone tennis game and the betting was for his mums fags... although none of us smoked then, we were only 9 or 10 years old.

Koworld at that time lived around 10 minutes from my place, just past the Dicks Newsagent and Cumnor primary School so was easily accessable and worthy of a visit any time.... except on 1 occasion I got the distinct impression that my presence there was no longer wanted. I shall explain! Koworld has 2 brothers, Andrew and Graham and they slept on a bunk bed.

Now, being a fun filled chap we all thought it would be a good laugh to climb up onto the top and bounce. I recall Andrew giving a demo before I tried it. Ok, I'm a biggish chappie but what the hell, in for a penny and all that. I climbed aboard and began my bounce, 1, 2, 3 good bounces then CRASH! oh! opps! I had indeed landed on the lower bunk having gone straight through the top one. The next thing I know his mum comes blazing through the door and see's me in a somewhat less then happy heap and her words will never be forgotton.... or maybe it was just the volume she used.... "WHAT THE HELL IS HE GOING TO SLEEP ON NOW!!!!!!" ... to which I looked at the crumbling heap and replied something like "maybe the floor?" ... apparently that was the wrong reply and I thought a quick retreat HOME was in order.

The next piece of HIStory is entitled "POWER OF THE PUMP" starring Koworld, Mike Tyrrell and Myself...

In actuality it's all down to Koworld... Mike and I were but passing by... (yea... right!)... anyway, it was a nice warm sunny day and the village pond was usually a cool place to hang, after all this was a small quite village and not much else to do. It was the 'not much else to do' factor that was really the firing force behind the next idea. What a fun thing it would be to put Koworld in the pond and when a car drives past he could jump up and squirt water using his bike pump at the passing car! yea! a top plan if ever there was one.

This plan was put into action and Koworld found a nice little place just under the bank and with good view of the road so a car could be spotted well. A few practice shots were played out to ascertain power, angle and velocity and when he was ready he gave the nod and like pro's Mike and I found our spot which just happened to be as far from him as we could get whilst still having a good view.

A few cars passed and Koworlds aim was getting better. One shot hit the back of a car but for full effect he really had to hit the windscreen so they would know they we hit! a few more shots and the aim was good! As I remember he got 2 cars well on the screen, then the third car came along... it was the third and last! As the car approached he loaded the pump and waited for the moment, the car passed the far end of the pond... the middle... nearly in range... FIRE! and fire he did straight threw the open passenger window hitting the driver square on the side of the head! FFFFFUUUUCCCCCKKKKIIIINNNNGGGGG HHHEEEELLLL...... RRRRUUUUNNNNN!!!!!!!! Mike and I hit around 50 mph in 2 seconds, Koworld ducked but the car stopped! grabbed Koworld and escorted him home for a chat with parents!I thought it best to stay clear for a day or so....

Arrr... happy years... like a live videogame that one…

Mooving on a while we reached 16 and music was our thing... and Llamasoft!

Koworld introduced me to both these bands and that love for the music is true today. The ultimate for me was seeing Queen live at Wembley Stadium in July 1986. sadley Koworld could not make this as he was spending a weekend with his dad... but I was there! And mike too... we touted Ko’s ticket for him an all.

We were moving into an awesome part of our lives! a time of Miami Vice and Roland Rat! and what a fucking annoying rat he was too...

Personally I prefer this rodent

More soon! including Koworlds Amstrad, my C64, Ellie Hudson, HiFi, Milk and wearing 2 shirts to go out in!
