Just read something that reckons the price for the standard NGP will be $250-$280 (£154-£173), with the 3G model clocking in at $320-$350 (£197-£216). Interview with a 'Sony insider', apparently.

That's not terrible considering the 3DS price, but I'm sure the usual $=£ thing will take place and it'll start at £250.

Kinect

As we reported a year ago, the new version of the Kinect motion-control sensor array will be included with every Durango sold. The unit seems far superior to the one currently found for the Xbox 360 (or the PC, for that matter).

Perhaps most importantly, this isn't an optional accessory. It's mandatory. Not only does a Kinect ship with every console, but it must be plugged in and calibrated for the console to even function.

This requirement is due to the way Kinect has been integrated with the Durango; because every console can be guaranteed of having the camera, developers can now program every game with the peripheral in mind.

It's also because the Kinect will always be watching you. The new version of the camera is able to track up to six individual "skeletons" in the same room at all times. This has clear gameplay implications, such as allowing a game to instantly identify a person, but could also be related to a recently-patented Microsoft system for monitoring and maybe even charging users based on who is watching what.

This is sounding more and more like it's not going to be the console for me.

By having this as a "mandatory" item (something I've NEVER been inclined to buy or use) this not only pushes the price of the SKU up but I don't want Ballmer leering at me Big Brother style whilst I'm relaxing in the front room in my Banana hammock.

Get your calendars out chaps! 18th of May, Manchester for socialising fun.

Should be more than enough space for people between both @BikNorton and myself (beds for two couples and living room floor space for more at ours, Nik's got a spare room with a kingsize and perhaps a cot could be squeezed in there. Two sofas in the living room and tonnes of floor space; 6-8 people easy.). I should be able to take the Friday off if anyone is still wanting to get up early.

Lets keep the momentum going and start thinking of roughly when to start up again next year.
There was also talk of an early year Rumpus so will need to consider when that would be.

Need to get this done before another batch of Rodents decide to get married.

With the K-Pop videos I posted in the "wondering" thread just about to appear off the most recent page, I thought that I'd transfer all the links over here for safe-keeping. Rodent is my bookmark collection, didn't-you-know ;)

And, since I've on a real Girls' Generation kick at the moment, let's throw in the ridiculously twee (but ultra-fast!) Gee - no adverse comments unless you've made it through to the chorus!

One more? Why not! GG (or, as all the kids call them, SNSD) have just released Oh in the Japanese market... but here's the Korean video. I'll freely admit this is a far worse (pop) song than the above, but that opening hook is *brilliant*. Plus... cheerleading!

(Pro-tip: poke around on YouTube for any of the song names plus "choreography" and you'll likely find casual dance practise sessions. Pretty impressive stuff, especially when you learn that SNSD typically learn the routines for one of their songs in less than a week...)

Saw a bit of Daytona qualifying yesterday, I thought the young lad Trevor Bayne was very unlucky to miss out of the front row, fearless bit of driving from a lad who only turns 20 this Saturday.

Wearing the cynical hat for a moment; with all the talk of the 10th anniversary of a particularly grim day, festivities at and during the race to mark the occasion, then finally an Earnhardt on pole - I wonder if during the last fuel stint and the #88 is there or thereabouts - the fix goes in?
