North Vs South 8: 22nd September - NOW IN OXFORD WITH THE HOMOS (Damo probably won't make it though)
  • Let's set a date, confirm a location and get this shit on.

    SATURDAY FOOD PRE-ORDER: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/JM8RD9Z

And pitch 2A booked for 1PM here:
Address: Tilsley Park, Dunmore Road, Abingdon OX14 1PU (about 15mins from Oxford City on a bad day).
    Telephone: 01235 524524

It's a weird grass-like surface called '3G' or some such. While it's no cool, clean, futuristic Astroturf (your friend on the ground) it is lovely to play on and you can use either astroturf boots or standard rubber studs.

It has a 200-seat grandstand should our adoring public wish to do some adoring.

    Here endeth the lesson.

  • For reals, homes.
  • If we can get a date locked down, it's quite easy for me to get to Brighton. It was great there last time, and not seen most of you for too long.
  • Do it Col. Looking like weekend of 22/23 at this stage.
  • That works for team mogwins. I might even see if I can master a new skill over dribbling aimlessly into the corner. It might just be dribbling aimlessly in the corner.
  • Looking good for us I think.
  • Can't see why I wouldn't be able to do this currently.
  • We can't do 1/2 September or 8/9 September for various Warrington reasons, so 15/16 or 22/23 September are looking possibilities at this stage. I'd prefer earlier so as to accommodate a RRR in Oxford later in the year, but as I mentioned this morning, if the RRR is in Oxford, it doesn't affect me travelling.
  • Seeing as I live in Brighton (well Hove actually) I think I'll be able to meet up one of the days at least!
  • For what it's worth, we can't do the 15/16th.

  • Hmm. I'll have moved back to the West Country by then, which makes it significantly more arduous a trip. Would love to come though. I'm a maybe for now - unlikely to really know if I can do it until much nearer the time. Mid-month/later is better than earlier for me though.

Yeah, I said I might be doubtful that weekend too. So I reckon the later one is the go-er.

  • Puffle: you're heading back already? Well have to get together again soon. You're welcome over to our gaff for a bbq if the weather picks up, or we can meet you down on the southbank.

That works for me I think, and flights are pretty reasonable. I'll probably be travelling Thursday to Monday to make the most of it, or even tag a few more days onto either end.

  • I'll be there, for boozing and moral support.
  • 15th/16th is out for me.
  • 1st/2nd Sept no good for me. Rest of the month is good.

Can the South play in gay, tight vests and the North in white, string ones?
  • 1st it is then.
  • Haha. All September is fine for me, except 15/16.
  • 22nd it is. Ends.
  • Like the unvictorious captain said, 22/23 unless someone I like can't do it.
  • In which case it will definitely be the 22nd
  • Smashing, get it in the diaries then.

Hammond needs to sort out accommodation for 20 of us.

If Telboy could recommend somewhere to play the footy, that would be good too.

    7 a side again?

North to play in White, Losers in Black.

I predict a tighter game than this time, but a similar score line. 10-7 to the North.
  • We'll see. The smart money is on you and Jimmy to be rogered senseless after accidental gay club scenario.

But regardless, the early enthusiasm for a seaside sojourn is most excellent. As I said to Rich earlier, we used to congratulate ourselves on a weekend well done in the early days. Now we are groomsmen, godfathers to children and life-long friends to one another. Come what may, it will be a recipe for a fooqin memorable weekend.

Oh, and 12-9 to the South.
  • @reloaded Will do, somewhere close to town. I'll take a look this week.
  • It's possible the cramp in my legs will be gone by sept 22, so I'm a strong maybe depending on travel.
  • @gogol1000 glad to see you escaped Manchester in one piece!
  • Couldn't post yesterday as the phone battery was near death and had no 3G at the airport. But all in all I had good afternoon: I had some grilled chicken, a posh coffee from Costa, bought a sweatshirt in TK Maxx and saw some lesbians walking along holding hands.
  • Get that man a job on the tourism board :)

Sorry again we were rubbish and didn't hang around.
  • No worries. If a shower and sit down was in close proximity I don't think I could have resisted, not to mention getting taxied around for free all weekend.
  • Righty, there is a regular train service from Gatwick to Brighton, making this an easy enough trip. Is the date locked down?
  • Yes, a very good service but as almost everyone has to drive down the M23 past Gatwick you won't need the train.

And stop flashing £50 notes about. Only drug dealers, casino owners, and Chinese business men use those.
  • But the way your little face lit up at the sight of it...

Yes mate. I reckon it is.

  • 23rd might be my nephew's Christening, in which case, myself and miniSolid (you'll miss him pitch invading, obviously) will not be coming; which is a shame, as a trip to Brighton would have been nice, but if the date of the Christening changes, would probably try and make it a family trip.
Chris will just have to be very well behaved in the meantime if he wants a pass for the church event, in order to Rodent the weekend away. :)
  • Ah please Mrs Solid...let Chris come out to play.
  • I think I'll travel to London on the Thursday then head back to Austria on Sunday afternoon. If the date changes, tough.

Hopefully Brighton will see The Abbot reunited with The Sailor, and be once again triumphantly held aloft by Rich in a ropy nightclub.
  • The Sailor!
  • 22nd of September, you say?

    Fuck yes.
  • Turns out Hel's in Japan that week, getting back on the Friday, so I'll be coming alone.
  • (Unless up to 3 people want a lift from Manchester or somewhere along the way)
  • Fine then, I won't come.

    Cunts.

    (I will come)
  • I think I might be up for this one if that's ok chaps, depending on kids, life etc. But would really like to come along. Can we go camping? I love camping.
And could we do some sort of activity on the sunday too, makes the weekend seem to be longer than just the footie and a night out?
  • Jimmy dancing is camper than a row of tents. There'll be plenty of that.
  • `I want to go actual camping too as well as wearing tight shorts and a little vest. I don't mind doing that as well though when we go out in the evening. might need to lose a little weight over the summer though, not at my trimmest at the moment...
  • I reckon I'll be taking the Monday as well as the Friday.
  • It's London to Brighton and the Lib Dem conference on the same day.
  • That's a very good point.
  • 16th is the London -> Brighton innit? Weekend before?

  • ah, off-road version (never knew there was such a thing) is on the 22nd
