Euro 2012
  • If I was Hodgson, I'd give Walcott the last ten minutes, bring Milner off and let him have a run at Evra.

When I saw Defoe warming up, I thought Milner was coming off, Young going to that position, and Defoe going up front. I was almost correct. Should have left the Ox on I think.
  • Good goals, shit ref. 2nd half saw two teams that were more than happy with a draw.

Next up, come on the Swedes.
  • It is quite ridicuculous
  • Well, I'm already shitfaced and have to wait here until the missus arrives for the Sweden game. Work will be interesting tomorrow.
  • Wow. Chris Waddle got tubby.
  • During the warm up on Radio 5 they were talking about tackling and he said "I couldn't tackle a sunday dinner" to which the commentator replied "Looks like you've tackled a few nowadays."
  • We're seeing a lot of quickfire equalisers at this Euros, it seems to me.
  • What were you saying Dave?
  • Gimp mask - available in any colour as long as it's black. Hello UEFA.
  • Nice to see play going on and not being pulled up when an opposition player tries to break up play by feigning injury.

Even funnier to see the genuine sense of outrage from some players towards the referee that play isn't being stopped because someone's twisted their sock
  • Welbeck, Gerrard, and Milner just weren't good enough. Defence too deep which led to Nasri twatting one in past an unsighted-til-too-late Hart.

In fact I hate James Milner. I'd rather have Downing playing with a traffic cone tied to one leg than Milner.

Otherwise, nothing to get overly excited about but also nothing to write us off. Yet.
  • Milner used to look good, but I agree - a nonsense. I think it's basically Villa ruining players.
  • The back 4 + Parker looked good for the most part, the other 5 outfield players looked like they didn't know each other that well.
  • I reckon Ukraine winning is ideal. Assuming France do both that leaves us only needing to beat Ukraine and can even lose at Sweden. (Not that we should but nice to have the fallback)

I thought Welbeck was excellent though - his movement is really something. But not much else to get truly excited about, beyond a remark that it was a very competent and disciplined performance against a quality team. Their right-back BTW was brilliant - such quick feet and great close control.

Also - the Shevchenko headers were just brilliant - the tournament's finest moment so far. When I nod one past Jimmy again next week, I'll devote it to the people of Ukraine ;)

  • You rated Wellbeck?

I thought we looked like a team treading water until Rooney comes back and that Wellbeck was a greedy fuck and not in a good way. It's all very well beating three men in your own half but don't fucking lose possession straight after doing it. Look for a simple pass, you twat.
  • They've not been reading the North's training manual, page 4, pass it to Jimmy.
  • Lies. The North training manual is one page long and contains no words (they can't read). It's drawn in crayon.

  • Hahahaha. Chris to Jimmy, every time.

And Damo - yes, I did rate him. In the first half at least, I lost count of the number of times he won the flick on, or slipped in front of his marker, held up play, and fed the ball back into midfield. He was increasingly isolated as the game wore on, and in the circumstances - and this from a Liverpool fan - I thought he looked a real prospect.
  • I'm fully aware of my long torso, short legs disability thank you Mogwins, no need to see it in pictures too!

  • That picture is ace......

    :)
  • And Damo still couldn't get it right.
  • I just saw a picture of Jimmy on Facebook and it looks like he's caught something off Damo.
  • Fucking hell - Czechs going mad!
  • In Ukraine ... Czechs bounce you .
  • In Ukraine... ball bounces off Cech...
  • I don't follow football, but I do wonder why it's apparently fine to fall over and scream in pain for no reason at all. Do they teach this at clubs these days?

Mrs GB asks me the same thing and asks how I can watch grown men behaving like it
  • That's the first time I've ever seen the score update only for the goal to be disallowed.
  • Is that the same Arshavin? The Arsenal one?

We all ask the question, no one ever seems to have a good answer though!

  • Yes.
  • Is that the same Arshavin? The Arsenal one?

    Doppelganger I reckon.

  • Adrian Chiles is awful.
  • Adrian Chiles is awful.

  • Oww me head, it's in so much pain.

Oh shit, games still going. Better get up.
  • This game is nice and open, it's end to end stuff!
  • There's a perfect illustration of your point.
  • Is that the same Arshavin? The Arsenal one?

Funny you should say that - I had no idea he'd been sold. When did that happen? January?

Also, the Poland equaliser last night was absolutely tremendous. The first proper belting strike that's had me out of the chair. Should be a great atmosphere for their qualification decider against the Czechs.

  • He hasn't been sold, he's on loan.
  • Ah right. Hence why's he started to perform again. All that talent as well...the Arshavin of the 4-4 draw at Anfield was frankly unstoppable.
  • They're a bit rough.
  • Arshavin was crap last night. Too many touches, ignoring players making runs, dribbling with his head down. If he had his head out of his arse they would have won.
  • He's no Michael Carrick, that's for sure.
  • Carrick might have blocked that Nasri shot instead of inexplicably playing 8 yards deep in his own penalty area. ;)
  • Hahahahaha.

Arshavin was certainly poorer last night than versus the Czechs - but as many an Arsenal fan will agree, he was still 200% better than recent Arsenal performances!
  • Ronaldo's miss, best moment of Euro 2012 so far for me.
  • Sing to Ronaldo: Nicolas Bendtner is better than you...
