The Blaze GameGadget
  • has anyone picked up one of these little gizmo's yet? its linux based and has a pretty good dev following already, worryingly though is the £40 price drop only a month after release from £99.99 to £59.99

  • Looking at the game list, it's predominantly a licenced Megadrive emulator? Or am I missing something?
  • thats what worries me, but their forums have all these different machines listed, im guessing tomorrow is their make or break day with the download store launching.
  • Yeah, if it at least does SNES as well, then it's a step above the little 20-megadrive-games-on-one-handheld devices you can pick up from Amazon for £20.

Wishlist: Amiga. I'd be sold then.
  • theres a good dev video of lots of emulators running on it, one is amiga!
  • Well, if they can integrate everything nicely, with a proper UI, I'll be in. But the Amiga is a lot more faff than the consoles, as for most games there's a curious mix of keyboard, mouse and joystick, disc swapping, etc. I think they'd have to do everything on a game-by-game basis, which is a possibility if they're going to charge per game, as with the Megadrive titles.
  • the software/shop is now running, and theres a free frontier-elite II to download!
  • Could you run Workbench on it ?

omg this thing is a farce!! i got my refund last week thankfully before it gets worse - theyve pretty much closed their facebook page, their forums are run in a 'nazi' style with one customer being told when asked about what games to expect 'youre barking up the wrong tree - i wont warn you again, if you want to continue to complain please close the door on your way out'.

Lies and false promises by a company that deserve their product to fail

heres an interesting blog page about it: http://lionguardsolutions.blogspot.co.uk/2012/05/buyer-beware-gamegadget.html#!/2012/05/buyer-beware-gamegadget.html

    Yeah nothing worse is there.

    tsk.
  • Well the premise seems excellent. Interesting to see where it is in 6 months time. Zavvi and The Hut are knocking it out at £54.95 which ain't bad. I'd probably dive in at around 30 quid I reckon at this stage. But it does look wobbly..

    Oof. Harsh ;-)

  • Well, cant say I know what was promised in the past, but everything available info-wise on the site looks legit. Sounds like a case of them saying what it's capable of/planned for, consumers wanting it to be that right now and demanding to know when it will be, and them not having any idea when a living project will be "done" or what/if games will come from an opensource community.
And them just being Linux geeks and sick of being bitched at 24/7 and not having a proper PR channel to deal with it.
  • Linux geeks / public interfaces are always a trainwreck.
