Being very unfit and always needing an achievement to aim for I have been talked into doing the Race for Life with a couple of Mark's family.
As some of you may know Mark's mom was diagnosed with breast cancer a couple of years ago. She was one of the lucky ones where it was caught early enough - and I am amazed at how she took it all in her stride. Following a masectomy, she has now made a full recovery and still makes jokes about the whole thing. There are also a few close friends who were not so fortunate and lost their fight against cancer.
So, the achievements to get: This year my aim it just to finish the race with a combination of running and walking. Next year I aim to be fit enough to run the whole course. (eek!).
I know times are tough at the moment and we haven't all got cash to spare, but if anyone would like to donate to the cause then anything would be very much appreciated - no matter how big or small.
You will be standing in the park waiting for me to complete it and you will love every minute of it.
I realise its not on par with the runners on this forum and Alan has no fear of me ever getting the bug to run even a half marathon. But for someone who hasn't run or even done may long walks the 5km seems a lot at the moment.
hopefully there will be a pint at the end of it all.
Thanks to all those who have already donated it really is appreciated.

See that doesn't wash with. I've been running a few years now and have gradually worked up to what I do. You'll be putting just as much if not more effort in to complete yours and that is a massive accomplishment and one you should be proud to have done.
I think MrsM did this a while back. Did she? She talked about it. Well, I told her to do it. Can you check? If not I shall have stern words (and get out my credit card).
Race for life has been completed. A little slower than I would have liked as I was walking with others to start. After deciding their pace was too slow I picked it up a bit and finished at 57 mins.
Next year the plan is to run it so it's a year for me to get passed week 2 of the C25k program :)
