  • Pretty sure I know this one.
  • Is it Fish Barrel Strawberry Pirate Sailor 2: Barrel's Revenge?
  • Before Rocky gets here:

    Is it Pong?
  • Before Rocky gets here:

    Is it Pong?

Was it the fish that gave it away?
  • Yes, that's what it is.
  • Motherfucking x5 PONG FISH
  • Actually really enjoying play-testing this one for cheevos. :)
  • Game number five of the season is Pirate Ship Higemaru.

Har, har me laddies! Aye, aye cap'n and "you have a woman's purse", etc. etc.

Yes, it's the tales of the seven seas this month with Pirate Ship Higemaru, released in 1984 by Capcom. Throwing barrels into pirates and seeking out hidden items is the name of this game. Fair ye well, m'hearties!

Full details of the achievements and up-to-date scores will be here:
    WotR MAME Challenge 10

Oh, and anyone who still hasn't figured the pattern to the games yet needs a smack.
  • Brilliant game, that.

As far as I know, it never saw the light of day in Europe? I don't remember any conversions either, but Goof Troop was a sort of homage on the SNES:

  • I must admit I had a lot of fun playing it for setting the achievements. :)
  • You're not supposed to have *fun*, you're supposed to run the contest with a hard, cold iron fist.
  • Have you seen some of the 25 point achievements I've set for some of the other games? These ones are pretty easy though.
  • Well, this is gonna be interesting... never played this before. Hmmm...
  • Just to get a score up;
7,750 + Crack Jenny's teacup & Blow the men down achievements.
  • A fiver says Ely has all the cheevos by the end of this weekend.
  • 17,350

A fiver says Ely has all the cheevos by the end of this weekend.

Hmm dunno about that, it's not feeling like a game I'll get into a groove with yet. It's a challenge though :-)

  • Bloody lovely this, and with a week off work next week I'm going to get to play this one a bit more. Definately going pick up a wired 360 controller this weekend though or I'm going to end up with Carpal Tunnel!
  • 31,450 .... just for giggles and because I like this game :)>
  • Any tips for us newbies then @jon_egg?
  • Well, you can get 1100 points on the first screen ..

Also, don't be scared of clearing barrels like crazy when the level starts (while the cutthroats are still snoozing), because you'll invariably knacker at least one hidden pirate before he even leaves his barrel. Quickly head for the open-top ones for bonus fish.

Doing this, you might also randomly find a hidden anchor or skull (they're not signposted), which freezes the cutthroats BombJack-style, leaving them wide open for a kicking.

Finally, when the pirates are on the move, never waste a barrel - always chuck them roughly at the enemy rather than discarding them. The pirates zero-in on you, so someone's bound to wander into the path of your barrel.
  • The anchor/skull barrels arn't random - there's is a pattern to them appearing. However, you get more points for killing a pirate with a thrown barrel than kicking them while frozen.
  • 6,850 score on the door
  • 19,259
    Crack Jenny's tea cup got!
  • Blow the men down got!
  • Dead Men tell no tails got!
  • 12,400 and Crack Jenny's teacup
  • 31,200 and Crack Jenny's Teacup
  • Decided to have a cuppa, fire up Mame and record an inp file of myself playing this.

Somehow got over 218,000 (got to the third Cap'n deck).

    Somewhere there's a hidden item worth 50,000 points ...
  • Not clicking with this yet.
    25,300
  • 11,300 - this is fun but not quite in the groove yet. Helped a lot turning the joystick option to be a 4 way though. Was driving me nuts.
  • Much better, 75,950 and Dead men tell no tales.

It's gonna be tricky to get that 25 point achievement though, this game went perfectly and I still only got to Stage 7. And still no sign of that Strawberry on Stage 3.

  • The strawberry is a lie.
  • :) You'll find it eventually.

Stage 10 isn't so tough once you get into a groove. Just threw in a 90k+ giving Diz a quick demo of the game. Best score while play-testing was around 130k.

    Still enjoying playing it!

Is everyone rinsing the opening screen for 1,100 points yet?
  • You can get 1600 .. occasionally an anchor appears in one of those practice barrels.
  • Nice, didn't know that.

    Haha :-)

I managed 1,600 when one of those a nice Ship wheels appeared from under one of the barrels to give an extra 500 :-)
