Friday 3rd February 2012 - Rodent "where you been?" sort of awards
  • Yup it was Friday last year, much better for me as previously it was either take the day off or leave early to get home knowing I needed to be up for work. But I'm not complaining whatever it is I'll be there.
  • Well, nowt booked yet so I'll see if friday works better.
  • Why not just not leave it another month so everyone outside the M25 has time to arrange it better.
  • Rocky's outside the M25 and he's okay.
  • A hahaha ha ha.
Sadly looking a bit difficult here, need to discuss with MrsB but we'd have to train it to fit around work and that's looking a bit pricy for just after christmas.
  • I'm with Ed on the slight adjournment...
  • Met one Rodent and he was dreamy. Guess I need a few more for my list.

Thursday is a good night but need to catch a train home about midnight.

    Toga's optional or what?
  • Can't have any awards night style schenanigans later than first week of Feb. To be honest (and more details later) it is going to be a VERY low key affair, but still fun and stuff.
  • VERY low key eh? Like, held in a library low key?
  • Low key as in only the select special ones will be there.. :)
  • I knew it! He's joined the Masons.

Also known as 'the only ones left'

  • Shh - we're special.
  • Call me Mr Leftfield, but aren't we a bit obsessed with London as a meety-up venue? I work there so it's no skin off my nose, but I feel for the chaps elsewhere as it involves trains/cars/hotels/hassle.

Wouldn't we be better off in Brum or somewhere like that? Do the majority of Rodents live in the smoke? if so fair enough, but I suspect it's not the case..
  • Well Mr Leftfield, I guess it's more about location of places to stay and ease of transport than anything else. London, with it's transport links from everywhere does make sense really.
  • Oh yeah, getting to London, and cadging some sleeping space, are not really an issue from here at least. It's just personal circumstance of the time and cost currently.

    Also, Brum smells.
  • Brim smells because of all the old people, which is why Unkie T wants to go there.
  • Derby is great for transport links.

    Dot dot dot
  • oh and since we're picking spots, how about the old U S of A? Never had a Rodent Awards Extravaganza there, now have we? I mean for a spot in which only 3% of the Rodent population resides, it is certainly a mystery why it's constantly left out of the selection committee, each and every year..
  • I would love a Rodent awards in the US.
  • Videolink presentation in the mankini?
  • Maibock you should invite us all, buy all the beer in, and when we don't turn up just go on a 4 day bender :-)
  • done!

    "invites" in the mail :)
  • first post updated (and added here)

Ok, here are the details as far as we know it so far (more to come):

    when?
    6pm Friday 3rd Feb 2012

    where?
the Crown and Two Chairmen pub
    http://www.thecrownandtwochairmenw1.co.uk/

Great pub with fantastic choice at the bar. A perfect venue - we have the upstairs room booked from 6pm.

    what?
Well, while it will be the official rodent awards gathering, there wont be the same level of jazz as usual. This part is up to *you* guys. Yes, *you*. (not you, no, the guy behind. further. bit to the right. THAT's IT YOU.)
  • I like it. Are we allowed to eat there?

    I knew you'd ask that.
  • Fucking hell, Dean Street. I'm in. Never been to this place but it looks great.

And handy for discos and massages, should any of the chaps need one, ha ha.
  • Massages? Are you offering or just suggesting you can get one in the vicinity?
  • Oi!! Cheeky sod.

Rocky will know what I mean, I'm sure.
  • Alas I will be stuck at work and wont be able to get down to london in time. Looks like it will be exciting though, I will await incriminating pictures of Rocky and Jimmy with much anticipation.
  • Friday? It would be rude not to.
  • Do we have to bring 'partners' or are they explicitly not allowed?
  • Anything goes crazy cat, anything goes.

  • Great pub, one of my favourites.

Had my first drink with Em there in 2002, part of my 30th celebrations in 2006, and our leaving London do there in 2009! Good times.

So is there a Cornish contingent going? @mr_kentish @nockyt
  • Yeah, it's a fantastic pub. Used to go there a lot when they had the upstairs cinema room as well.
  • You dirty perv.

    What?
  • Yes very nice, I was in there for a leaving do last week in fact.
  • Are you trusting Rocky to take you to a good pub?

Should be a good night, first one I'll have missed for 4 years I think :(
  • Budgie's not going? I'm definitely in!
  • I'll be there - might drag Mrs T along too.
  • Will I be there or will I be square?
  • Will I be there or will I be selling my arse on Soho square?

    Fixed that for you.
  • Damn it Matt. You know all the 'Soho Lingo' don't you!

I reckon I'll head up on train Friday lunchtime. I could also usefully spend Saturday looking for a wedding suit as well. Will check with Jax as to her intentions.

  • I'm around all day Friday, so if anyone wants to meet up for some lunch/drinks or whatever, hit me up.
  • Turns out I may be in exotic Slough that Friday so could amble over after my meeting.

Who can spare a billet for me and my 6 ton laptop?
  • I have floor space, or a small sofa.
  • I too will be looking to be in town during the day somewhat.

And again, plenty of staying over space at my place, albeit outside of London.

Howdy, Stranger!
