  • PONG! finally.
  • Crap. I knew I'd made this one too easy.
  • Crackers and nine lives (cats)? Hmmm...
  • oh god.. its not mappy is it?
    nooooo not mappy
  • I'm going to say it's not Mappy, but I do believe I know what it is. Gonna keep it to myself for now though...
  • Elevator Action?
  • Second game of Season 10 is Mouse Trap which will take us until the end of 2011.

Created by Exidy in 1981, Mouse Trap is a Pacman style maze game where you, as the feisty little mouse, need to find and eat all the cheese - while avoiding the preying cats hot on your tail. A twist on the standard gobbling maze game includes coloured doors which can be altered to change the maze and protect you from the nasty felines!

Once again, use whatever version of MAME or romset you've got handy as there's no real difference with any of them as long as you leave all DIP switch setting at default. If you don't have the rom you can grab it from the link below.

Full details of the achievements and up-to-date scores will be here:

    WotR MAME Challenge 10

Have fun! Oh, and you might want to set up some slightly easier buttons for the doors if you're playing on a keyboard.

EDIT: The 20 point 'green' achievement is cumulative over as many games as you need.

  • Huh... my vague thought as to what the game was turns out to be true (only old school game I could think of that had cats AND a dog in it!). Hmmm... played it before, can't remember how well I did on it though...
  • Never heard of this. reminds me of ladybug we played last season or season before, I forget which.

    What he said :-)

  • I knew it was this! I had this on the Atari 2600, having bought it as a consolation when I lost out to a mate for Pitfall II. I ended up really enjoying it. Never played the arcade version though.
  • Never played it or heard of it before. At least I'm getting an edukashion hear.
  • Best of a first few goes - 8450
  • And animal crackers achievement too. How do you change the doors though?
  • Three different buttons change each of the separate coloured doors. You might need to check your settings in MAME (press TAB in the game) to see what they're being set as default and change them to something easier perhaps?
  • Early score on the door: 97,430. And "That's My Boy", ""Animal Crackers", and "As One Door Closes" gotten. If anyone gets the pistol, they deserve to win the challenge...
  • Yep. Not such an easy 25 points this time 'round!
  • I'm going to be shit at this!

    First go, 4320
  • Okay, it took me 3 or 4 goes to realise theres another button that changes the gates.
I guess it got me cheevo 3, but due to my own stupidity

34,080 and That's My Boy, Animal Crackers, and As One Door Closes
    This is a weird game
  • 7350 for an early low watermark.

Wish the mouse would slow down a bit, keep whizzing past the turnings.
  • 63,920
This game makes me feel really stupid, I do really dumb things.. heading down deadend without a bone.. running headlong into the bloody hawk.. gah
I don't think the IN box makes the hawk stupid

    10,660 for MrM.
  • A second go: 34,660 and That's My Boy plus Animal Crackers.

  • 11,430 - only one cheese left to get on level 1 - bugger!

    Oh, and Animal Crackers.

  • Weekend scores all updated. :)
  • 17570 - too much going on for me in this one!

Animal Crackers and Got to catch em all snagged though

  • 31970 and That's my Boy and As one Door closes
    Post edited by Gorilla_Biscuit at 2011-12-05 15:01:59
  • 20,900 and Animal Crackers so far
  • 34200 and that'll do for today
  • Are people just able to catch 900 point cats easier than me? I'm part of the way there, but I can't have played any less games so far than some people... maybe...
  • Yeah, I had that one down as a relative toughie, hence the 20 points. I assume people realise they need to do it nine times and not just once to get the achievement?

No, I'm just a moron and didn't read the description properly :P

Cross that one off for me

  • Just to get a score on the board 7,480. I can see this annoying me with the 3 buttons.

    EDIT: 24,990 and Animal Crackers

EDIT: 27,790 and That's my boy! and As one door closes...

EDIT: 51,230, and so far 2 x 900 cats (going to keep a score here so I know when reach 9 of 'em)

Nice little game, can't see how my brain has time to move the gates, my best score was done without moving any of them!

  • Oi, you know the editing posts rule! ;)
  • Well I figured I could get those all in before you looked in here :-)

Wait.. what? how many buttons are there?

    Wiki....wiki....wiki....wiki.. crap! 4? I've only been using 2
  • One to become a dog, and one for each type of coloured door.
