This is completly different to Summoning Blue Phantoms. What this does is while your in Soul Form your forcing you way into another players game while their in Body Form. Casuing you to be the Black Phantom who just broke into someones game, to do this you will need:
First. Black Eye Stone Second. You yourself is in Soul Form and the Host in Body Form.
If you ever feel bored then go ahead and drop a Black Eye Stone. This will cause you to force you way into the Host game. You either kill or be killed. If you somehow manage to defeat the Host you will gain Souls. If you die by the enviroment but not killed by the host you will automacticly get a Soul Level deducted off your highest stat.
To avoid being invaded always play in Soul Form or risk being invaded by someone random
Heh, bring it on paddy. You need to beat flamelurker first tho ;-p
In other news - blue dragon is toast. That was just a slog really, shot a pile of arrows into him before I got the courage to try to run underneath him, then I couldn't really see if I was hitting him or not.
Got the key from Ostrava as well so I might go and check that out first before trying to take on the big bad.
Right. I've picked up Demonbrand, killed the Rune Sword Black phantom and pretty much decided that I'm not going to be able to level up enough to make any significant difference to my current attack power (BBS would take waaaaaay too much grinding to get my faith stat up, and DemonBrand doesn't seem worth the extra grind either since I can't enchant it). I guess if I completely get my arse handed to me by the 1-4 demon, I might grind a bit to upgrade my faith to get the second slot to equip second chance, but for now I can't be arsed.
Got Flamelurker down to about 20% health a few mins ago, surprisingly by staying out in the open with him. Problem was getting some distance to make him lose track of me to build back up some MP. Two hits = dead. I'm considering downgrading from wizard's robes to underpants for the next encounter.
Don't think I'll be meleeing that cunt any time soon. Fucker knicked a soul level off me. Still managed to nip back in, grab my bloodstain (plus the souls from the soul drain) and piss off again with a shard of archstone - nice!
No idea what level I'll need to be to kill him tho - he's stupidly overpowered. I'm going to firestorm his arse I reckon ;-)
False King is not that bad. Flamelurker and Maneater are far worse.
The key is recognizing his attacks, all of which he telegraphs. If he's going to do his huge area-of-effect attack, rush in and pound him. If he does either of his leap/charge attacks, you can roll out of the way to the side fairly easily. If you're in close and his hand starts to glow, get the hell out of dodge (preferably with a backward roll) -- although if you've got a Blue Phantom helper, it's pretty easy for them to backstab him while he's draining your Soul Level. ;)
My Friday launch for Demon's Souls has been transformed into Demon's Souls Saturday! For I have the place to myself for most of the weekend.
Once the small matter of Saturday's final training run is out of the way - 80 miles minimum (gulp) - I shall set sail. Or collapse in a heap on the living room floor in a manner not too dissimilar to my soon-to-be pulped Royal.
I cheaped my way past Fool's Idol last night. Not really sure where to go next. Might have another crack at 1-2. I definitely need to restock on healing stuff. Had a quick go at the red eye knight in 1-1 afterwards, but he still killed me a bit too easily. Think I'll have a tilt at the red dragon, tonight, too, when I've bought some more arrows.
3-2 is reasonably straightforward as long as you have your wits about you. I liked the way the shortcut opened up too. You can grab the gloom armour set from yurt here too. The boss is a bit nasty tho.
I'd do 2-2 if you haven't already, then make the lava bow from the armour spider's soul - it's awesome ;-)
Hello, where would I pick up leather armor easily before I take on flamelurker again? Fighting him with one mistake meaning death is getting a bit frustrating.
Patches the Hyena sells leather armour, he's locked in a cell in 4-1. There's a hidden passage in the hole where the pit is. Just smack the archway to open it and sneak up on the skellys to stab them in the back - I think one of them drops the key for the cell. Watch out for ambushes in those narrow corridors tho ;-)
I don't think leather armour gives much flame resistance tho - you are better to learn water veil, and kill the red dragon so you can grab the purple flame shield from where he roosts in 1-1. You can also unequip some armour to free up equipment weight.
What weapon are you using to hit him? He's weak to magic so crescent falchion is maybe an idea.
I'm nearly done. Dunno if I'll do an new game+ right away tho. I have other games in my list that deserve some attention.
Really enjoyed the game tho - at first it's a bit of a slog and you feel like you are not getting anywhere but it slowly starts coming together and getting its hooks into you.
I'm going to have to turn the brightness down on the telly now tho - every other game I play is going to seem really bright now!
I have water veil, and my main form of attack is to thrust my soul arrow at him over and over (120 dmg a pop). I was thinking of going after the dragon, but first I need to farm souls to buy arrows. Feck sake!
And how will we cope with Dark Souls without a wiki to reference?
Righty, the dragon is down and so is the Vanguard. 4-1 is far more forgiving at my current level than the last time I went after it. I need two more levels to get high enough strength to use that purple shield, but I'm getting there. Black skeleton's also turned out to be pussies, even though the strategy guide gave them a big sell.
Quite nice to be making progress. The problem with this game and sticking points is it can feel like bashing your head against a wall, and using up all your health items on the same fight again and again.
Item questions - I know for getting the nifty weapons forged with the demon's souls, the level has to exactly right. I'm aiming for a scraping spear from a winged spear +6. If I were to make that a Quality Winged Spear +6, is it then unusable for a scraping spear? I also need more shards of sharpstone. I only have chunks of sharpstone - can they be broken down to shards or are they for higher level upgrades? (this last paragraph has mainly been for the benefit of putting off Kentish!)
Nope - you can't reduce chunks or shards, they stay as they are.
Also, I wouldn't waste rare resources on making a Quality spear if you are going to convert it. Sharpstone is much more abundant (plus there's a guy who sells it at the start of 2-1) so I'd just make a +6 spear out of any old shitty spear you have spare.
And black skellies are easy as long as you learn to get the fuck out of the way of that double katana leap thing. Then dive in and smack them about afterwards.
I know exactly what you mean about progress, although the nice thing about the hub system is that there's usually somewhere else to go and explore or grind so you aren't constantly retrying the same fight.
edit - just checked, it needs to be just a basic+7 spear for that. A quality one wouldn't work.
Is the scraping spear the same if you use a short or winged spear to base it on? If so, fuck! I already have a short spear + 5, but wanted to bring up the winged one, assuming it would result in better weapon overall.
Finally, The Rock has come BACK- I beat the flaming cunt, despite a distracting 'message received from Kentish' pop-up when I had one fucking hit to go!!
god fucking dammit. Fucking cheap cocksucking Allant cunt.
Drained me three soul levels then killed me, again, with the explodey attack from miles away when I had my shield up and thought I was well out of range. Went back to get my souls and for some reason got completely fucked over by the crossbow guys right at the start - dead. Probably lost about 100,000 souls there.
Cock.
I can see how to beat the cheap cunt, and had him down to about half health (jammy bastard survived two firestorms unscathed too - firestorm far too random). But he just keeps doing that move towards you attack, usually followed by a soul drain and if you can't avoid the first lunge you are fucked.
Got in place to fight the Dragon God, I found a sword called the dragon bone smasher, which is as tall as my character and I assumed was essential to the fight. Weighs a ton.
So for the last half hour I've been charging at the dragon god with this sword assuming it was the only thing that would smash through the broken stone pillars blocking your path... stripped to the underpants in order to avoid the item burden and be able to move at full speed. As it turns out the bone smasher only turns up for pure white world tendency, and is less than essential. Jesus wept!
I took down the Red Dragon last night. Mainly with magic in the end, so I've got loads of arrows left over. Went on to have another bash at the big knight chap after spending my winnings, and got killed again, but felt I did some damage. Got killed embarrassingly a few times on the way there, having forgotten my tactics for Boletaria. And maybe having become a bit cocky. I think I'll try some stronger armour if I fancy another try.
Tower Knight taken down. Lost my shiny new body already, though. Getting expensive to upgrade my character, too. Moved on to 2-2, but not reached the boss yet.
2-2 is a bit of a slog. There is a shortcut to the boss if you go right instead of left at the minecart near the start but be prepared to die a lot trying to figure out where to drop off next.
Think I figured out one of the reasons why I'm getting so badly punished by Allant - I need to lower my shield when it's quiet to recharge my stamina. I was just holding on to L1 for grim death so my stamina wasn't replenishing and my shield wasn't able to do its job.
I'll have a few more goes at doing it properly then I think I'll just cheese the fucker from the door with arrows - causing me too much aggro he is. The cheap cunt.
Dunno if I can be arsed tonight tho - I'm pretty tired and I need to go to bed earlyish tonight as I'm on early kid duty in the morning.
I've been playing as a ranger so stamina not been too much of an issue mostly. Although I think that most of the other bosses that I've fought, even the melee ones, have been less aggressive so I've maybe been relaxing the shield without thinking about it too much. Dunno.
