Game #3 - Hitman 2 (Xbox)
By Puffle

Status - previously played for less than 2 hours

Hmm. I've not touched this for literally 2 years and Mr puffle played it more than me, a rare thing indeed. In fact I think I bought it for him.

Time goes by

I've no idea about the controls so start again from the beginning, then rapidly tire of the training level and get straight to the first mission without practising my sneaking and garotting. I subsequently stuff up mission over and over, galloping through doors when I only meant to peek through the keyhole and failing dismally to persuade anyone that I am in fact a postman or vegetable delivery boy.

This is a weird one as I usually like a bit of stealth (Metal Gear Solid is one of my all time favourite games) but I just cannot be arsed with this at all. It just feels too much like a 'learn the AI, fail, try again, learn a bit more about the AI, fail, try again'. There are some good moments but they are entirely unintentional - like the time I discover Agent 47 doesn't run but in fact minces, and when I noticed you can fashion unconscious bodies into amusing shapes. I like games where strategy, cunning and sneaking are rewarded, and will put hours in with the right game (Thief - coming later - gripped me for weeks) but this just feels flat, cold and dull, like resting your forehead against a freezer door in Tesco. And about as exciting.

Will I play it again? Not bloody likely, Baldy, you're going in the trade-in pile.
