All the best of 2007
By Rodentia
Hello my loves! We’re back and awarding like masturbating monkeys – yes we’ve made it all the way to a second Rodent Game Awards. This year we shall be a-celebrating all that was ace in 2007 and fuck-me was it a year of special. We’ve got great games, fantastic experiences and shit-eating grins for every single one of those twelve months and across pretty much every platform. Man it’s been brilliant.
To celebrate that brilliantness we’re having an Awards booze-up in a London pub on the 31st of January. Last year’s game-celebra-drink-a-thon went stupidly well (there's a write-up here) and this year could easily prove that to be a total one off, and be a dreadful evening of ponce, games-nonce and vomit. But however badly it goes, the night will still be more fun and more credible than the cringingly awful Game BAFTAs - so grab yourself a free ticket and come along. All readers welcome; all PRs who have been kind to us too; games makers, actual code under the fingernails people, especially welcome – marketing knobs: less so unless they agree to sponsor the fucking bar, in which case we love you like brothers and/or sisters.
Of last year: Jez Chubb of EA Criterion reckoned that it was “Genuinely the most enjoyable awards gig I’ve been to and great to receive praise from people who played, understood and loved our game as much as we did.” Veteran games journalist Andy Lowe ensured our heads no longer fit our hats by adding “The best thing was it didn't just feel like some daft fanboy love-in. Beneath the rough 'n' ready vibe, there was a smart, informed, unashamed sense of passion for gaming.”

So, the point of all this drinking: Awards. Here, ladies and gentlemen are our nominations for the best of 2007 (titles released in December 2006 also eligible – we like to give a game a proper bit of play-time and that).
Again we’ve got three categories and then a straight shoot-off for the absolute Game of the Year.
So – those categories:
1. Technical Achievement
2. Gameplay
3. For the People, With the People
4. Game of the Year
Click the links to move through the, umm, words of wise praise and blather. We’re not trying to be clever with our massive opinion-egos here: we’re just hoping that you might find a couple of gems you’ve missed, or overlooked, and have some bonus good gaming times. And for what it's worth we also see these awards as a 'thank you' to the daft buggers who slave away on the great games we all love.
