And the winner is...
By Rodentia

Hello everyone. You may be wondering what happened to the traditional WotR Game of the Year polls? Well, worry no more as we proudly present the first annual Way of the Rodent Awards.

Here’s how it works… we’ve got a bunch of nominations in some stupid-but-also-sensible categories and we’re announcing (oooh get us) them now so you’ve got a bit of a shopping list for the sales. Then on Thursday the 25th of January we’re going to be holding our awards ceremony downstairs at the Royal George. We’re doing it there because it’s free and you just need to have your name on a few A4 sheets to get the sofas reserved.

Ace.

And representatives of all the nominees will be invited and we fully expect only the nice PR lady looking after DEFCON and a disappointed suit from EA to turn up. Mostly we shall be drinking and having a laugh to please ourselves. Oh and any reader who feels like it will be welcome too. Come along and say hello - you’ll get to see the glorious winners each pick up their incredible ‘Rodent’ award (pictured).

Right, where were we?  Yeah – awards: we’ve got three categories like we’re the fucking Oscars or something. Each of those has some games in grouped by various criteria. Although we’re a frivolous bunch we’ve actually had a proper think about these and we’ve asked for views and thought about it all for bleedin’ months. We’ve topped off the lists with one final set of six games we think have been top for gaming this year. Sort of our ‘games of the year’.

So – those categories:

1. Technical Achievement
2. Gameplay
3. In a Specific-Context Games of the Year
4. Actual Game of the Year – Shortlist

Click the links to move through the, umm, words of wise praise and blather. We’re not trying to be clever with our massive opinion-egos here: we’re just hoping that you might find a couple of gems you’ve missed, or overlooked, and have some bonus good gaming times. And for what it's worth we also see these awards as a 'thank you' to the daft buggers who slave away on the great games we all love.
