...they don't like it up 'em

Your life re-lived
They'll be waiting to cheer

"Then, due to too much exposed flesh and absolutely no sunscreen (had it even been invented in the '70s?), the whole family got sunburn. We spent the first day shuffling about like zombies, peeling flakes of skin off each other's shoulders. It was compulsive - like human bubble-wrap"

West of House
You are standing in an open field west of a white house, with a boarded front door.
There is an unstable looking mountain here.

>question reality
You ask yourself: "Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy?"

>climb mountain
The unstable looking mountain shifts ominously under you as you start your ascent. Suddenly you find yourself caught in a landslide and everything turns to black.

>escape
Escape from what?

>reality
There is no escape from reality.

>open eyes
You open your eyes, and find yourself sitting on top of the collapsed mountain.

>look up
[to the skies]
You see nothing special

>who am i
You're just a poor boy.

>help me
Help yourself, you won't get any sympathy from me!

>oh well, easy come, easy go, i suppose
I'm sorry, I didn't understand that sentence.

>inventory
You are carrying:
A box of matches
A spliff
A loaded gun
An unknown device with a button labelled: "Press in the event of an emergency."

>light spliff
[with the matches]
The spliff is alight. You take a few puffs. You are a little high.

>down
You get off the collapsed mountain. You are a little lower now. There is a light westerly breeze.

>go
Go where?

>i don't mind really, follow the wind
I'm sorry, I didn't understand that sentence.

>east
Behind House
You are behind the white house. A path leads into the forest to the east. In one corner of the house there is a small window which is slightly ajar.
There is a man with a guitar here.

>say hello
The man says: "Fuck off!"

>threaten man
[with the gun]
You put the gun against the man's head.
The man says: "Fuck off!"

>pull trigger
[of the loaded gun]
The gun fires and the man falls to the ground. He appears to be dead.
There is a guitar here.

>get guitar
[taken]

>look
Behind House
You are behind the white house. A path leads into the forest to the east. In one corner of the house there is a small window which is slightly ajar.
There is a dead man here.

>open window
With great effort, you open the window far enough to allow entry.

>enter house
Kitchen
You are in the kitchen of the white house. A table seems to have been used recently for the preparation of food.
There is a door to the west.
Your mother is here.

>say hello
Your mother says: "I hope you've been a good boy?"

>confess
[sins]
You tell your mother that you have just killed a man. You don't mention the spliff.

>ponder life
You consider how your life, which seemed to have started such a short time ago, has suddenly turned pear-shaped. You realise that you have just thrown whatever chance you had to make something of yourself away.
You notice that your mother has started crying.

>mama
Your mother says: "Ooh!"

>apologise
[to your mother]
You say: "I didn't mean to make you cry."
Your mother continues to cry.

>comfort mother
You realise that the best thing you can do right now is leave. You tell your mother that you may be gone for some time, and ask her to carry on as best she can without you.
Your mother leaves.

>hug mother
Too late.

>time
Your time has come.

>score
Sorry, that was the last spliff you will see for some time.

>west
Living Room
You are in the living room. There is a large oriental rug in the centre of the room.

>move rug
With a great effort, the rug is moved to one side of the room, revealing the dusty cover of a closed trap door.

>open trap door
The door reluctantly opens to reveal a rickety staircase descending into darkness.

>down
The trap door crashes shut, and you hear someone barring it.

>look
It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a Haniff.

>listen
You hear a petultant whining noise that sends shivers down your spine. You notice that your body has been aching ever since the landslide incident.

>leave
What, without saying goodbye to everyone? Besides, it is too dark to see where you are going.

>light match
Cellar
You are in a dark and damp cellar with a crawlway to the south.
There is a copy of Pravda here.

>read pravda
[taken]
You look at the copy of Pravda. All the words are in Russian. There is a picture of your mother on the front page.

>mama
[ooh]

>south
As you try wriggle your way through the crawlway you get stuck.

>i don't want to die!
I'm sorry, I didn't understand that sentence.

>sometimes i wish i'd never been born at all
Your mother would be sorry to hear you say that.

>south
After a bit of furious wriggling, you manage to get through the crawlway.
Lair
This appears to be the lair of some sort of animal or madman. There is a set of stairs going up on your right and a set of stairs going down on your left. It is quite dark.

>light match
Your match throws a small silhouette of a man onto the far wall. The man is wearing a pair of overalls with the nametag "Scaramouch".

>scaramouch
The man says: "Scaramouch"

>dance
[with Scaramouch]
He doesn't look the type to skip the light fandango with a stranger.
Scaramouch looks like he wants something from you.

>what do you want
There is a sudden flash of lightning and a deafening clap of thunder, which frightens you terribly.
Scaramouch starts muttering to himself. It sounds like he is chanting the word: "Galileo."

>magnifico
I'm sorry, I didn't understand the word: "magnifico."

>offer money
[to Scaramouch]
You're just a poor boy. You don't have any money.

>hug scaramouch
If he won't dance with you then he certainly isn't going to hug you.

>nobody loves me
That's because you're just a poor boy from a poor family.

>hug scaramouch
The repeated hug attempts have obviously upset Scaramouch. As he approaches you, you realise he is quite a hideous monstrosity. He also looks very angry.

>spare me
Scaramouch ignores your plea and continues to approach you menacingly. His face contorts as he shuffles toward you.

>ah well, easy come, easy go
I'm sorry, I didn't understand that sentence.

>attack scaramouch
Attack Scaramouch with what?

>gun
The gun isn't loaded.

>attack scaramouch with fists
Scaramouch easily overpowers you, throws stones at you, and spits in your eye. He then proceeds to assault you sexually.

>let me go
Scaramouch seems to have some kind of multiple personality disorder. He appears to be arguing with an alter-ego.
Scaramouch/Bismillah says "Bismillah! No, we will not let you go!"
Bismillah/Scaramouch says "Let him go!"
Scaramouch/Bismillah says "Bismillah! No, we will not let you go!"
Bismillah/Scaramouch says "Let him go!"
Scaramouch/Bismillah says "Bismillah! No, we will not let you go!"

>let me go
Scaramouch/Bismillah says "Will not let you go!"

>let me go
Scaramouch/Bismillah says "Never let you go!"

>never let me go?
Scaramouch/Bismillah says "No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no!"

>call for help
In desperation you cry out to your mother, several times.

>inventory
You are carrying:
A box of matches
An unloaded gun
An unknown device with a button labelled: "Press in the event of an emergency"
A guitar.

>press button
[on the unknown device]
There is another sudden flash of lightning and a deafening clap of thunder, accompanied by fire and the smell of brimstone. Beelzebub appears within the flames.

>say hello
Beelzebub says: "I have put a devil aside for you. Here it is." And with that he diappears in a third display of thunder and lightning.
A devil appears where Beelzebub stood. The devil kills Scaramouch and then disappears in a final flash of lightning.

>jam
[with the guitar]
You launch into a stirring guitar solo lasting several minutes. During the solo you taunt the dead body of Scaramouch for stoning you, spitting in your eye, sexually interfering with you, and attempting to kill you.

>get out of here
There are stairs to your left and right. Which way do you want to go?

>get right out of here
Forest
This is a forest, with trees in all directions.

>give up
Give what up?

>i don't want to play this crappy game any more
I'm sorry, I didn't understand that sentence.

>this game doesn't matter any more
I'm sorry, I didn't understand that sentence.

>arse
I'm sorry, I didn't understand that sentence.
