Xbox Live bit Broken for a While

With SolidChris

Xbox Live has been a bit shit recently. The service outage has shown how reliant I‘ve very quickly become on Microsoft pumping excitement into my house on a daily basis. Whenever Live kicks me out there’s a weird little sense that I’ve been cut off, even though there’s no actual tangible thing that I’m missing out on that I had in the last console generation. So why on earth do I feel like a little part of me is wilting when I suddenly can’t see all of my friends’ Gamercards and compare our achievements?

It is in these darker moments that I feel like I’ve regressed - living as a drooling achievement-whore, constantly trying to justify my actions as part of a 'greater societal movement', a movement where my worth is valued on an arbitrary points-total generated by my ability to complete a set of virtual tasks.

On the other hand I am close to unlocking all the red-dot sights on my guns in the Call of Duty 4 multiplayer. Swings and roundabouts, innit.

Microsoft has chucked us over a free gift for our troubles in the disappointing shape of Undertow. It's better than nowt but I’d hoped for some ‘sorry points’ so I can buy that mini golf game - apparently the achievements are a piece of piss.

This is THE NEWS!
