[On Halo 2]"...the kids had a sleep over specifically to play the game. I took it upon myself to set up a small TV with an Atari 2600 for those who couldn't play or didn't have room to play Halo. Soon enough there was heated competition on the Atari since everyone started on the same level and picked it up easily enough to make it fun. Halo played second fiddle that night, with Outlaw, Combat, Warlords, Pong Sports being kings. There was honestly more joy on the kids' faces playing Atari than Xbox."

[On Radiohead's new album] "I know someone who paid £12.99 for the download because it's what he'd pay for a CD. He'd probably suck Thom Yorke's cock for free though."

[On Donkey Kong] "Yeah. I've just had three aborted games, and it's fucked me differently every time. The first time was something to do with jumping over barrels. The second time, I grabbed the hammer as a barrel was coming towards me and hit 'right', but Fuckface stayed pointing to the left, and I died. The third time, I got the hammer and successfully turned right, only for Kong to drop a barrel right on my head. Even though I had the hammer. The game is a cunt. "

Complete set of back issues here

Well, that was close. The issue you're reading now came close to never existing. In fact, it's not too much of an exaggeration to say that the magazine came close to shutting down for good. Not so much with a bang, but a whimper...

Yes, we've been hacked. And it was very nearly the end of us.

But we've been working away here in Rodent Towers trying to rescue what we can from the fire, and what you're reading now is the charred remains of the great lost issue. We hope you'll forgive us if it's a bit blackened round the edges.

We had other stuff too. For now, until we can beat the writers with the stick that we keep to make them work harder, you'll have to imagine our reviews of skate, Phantom Hourglass and whatever else we lost. We liked them for the most part. As for other lost treats? Well, maybe you'd be best coming back in December for what we hope will be a cracking Christmas issue...
