[on coming home to Britain] "Naturally, it was chilly and drizzling when we got back, and In the corridor between baggage reclaim and the exit at Glasgow airport there was a big advert for McCain Oven Chips - a giant, greasy chip with the slogan 'Welcome Home'. I could have punched that chip in it's smug potato face, if it had one." "

[on DEFCON] "The other day I was playing a survivor mode and had pallyed up with the US to make a superblock and was helpfully directing him about how to co'ordinate strikes to maximise the carnage and still have an effective defense. About half-way through he went on a kamakazi strike and I decided to unleash the subs I'd parked in NYC harbour just in case. Poor guy was so heartbroken you wouldn't believe. Kept sulking and pm'ing me abuse. Fun!"

"...my Xbox kindly told me I couldn't have 'Hair Gel' as part of my Gamer Motto thing, I've just had a little tinker with it and it has no problem whatsoever with the word 'Slag'."

Christmas

greetings!

Well, with a following wind this should just arrive under your tree in time for Christmas. Sorry for the late arrival of this month's Original Spirit, it's been a hectic old month here at Rodent Towers, but we hope you agree that it's been worth the wait.

First up we've got a fantastic treat for you all in the shape of Jet Set Willy Online. If you've been paying attention (and we know that you have) then you'll remember this from back in Issue 76 in the summer. This is better, we've set a team of crack coding ninjas from over at Retro Remakes loose on the idea and, well, quite frankly it's awesome. Download it, play it and love it. We know that we do.

Elsewhere we have two perspectives on the Wii launch from two different continents. If you're lucky enough to find a Wiimote nestled in your stocking then you'll find out for yourselves soon enough (and what are you reading this for?) but maybe you'll find our experiences a useful barometer of the Wii experience.

We're also taking this opportunity to revamp the Rodent Game of the Year list and proudly (yes really) present the first annual Rodent Awards. Tell us what made your videogaming year in the forums and then join us in January in a Top London Venue for the awards ceremony itself.

We have reviews this month too. We just haven't done them yet. Come back in the new year for the full lowdown of what you should be spending your vouchers on in the January sales.

...oh and check back over the holiday for a series of anti-boredom treats. You've been told!

Ahchay, Editor - December 2006

Look! Over there! T Shirts!

Haven't you bought one of these yet?.
