"Is it wrong to want to touch my games collection?

I know I should slide them into an appropriate receptacle now and then, just to keep them oiled and satisfied, but I can't bring myself to do it. Instead I pull them off the shelf, smell them, vigorously polish their cases, run my fingers over their shiny surfaces. It's almost like I'm teasing them.

Play with me, they seem to beg.

Mint condition, I reply.”

"I've always maintained that on mobile, the less buttons, the better. 3-4 max, really, and seeing as I'm in the filed of mobile game development (the whipping boy of the development world), I'd like to think i know what I'm blithering about. Platform games in general, do not work -hence the disaster of Sonic."

"I drank lots of beer Saturday night and found myself in a deep(though one sided) conversation with my wife before bed, outlining my profound love for MAME and how it was THE most important and relevant fixture to ever grace the PC.

you see, I was at a neighbor's house, drinking some beer and discussing neighborly stuff when I came home and decided to go through a MAME cd an employee made for me(note to self:said employee gets a nice bonus this year).

I was playing the usuals from my youth(pacman, galaga, dk and such) when I came across this baseball game which I had totally forgot about. Whoa! talk about a rush of memories that came flowing in. Odd how that could happen.. Opened up a whole chapter in my life which I had totally forgotten.. yeah MAME is beautiful.."

We proudly present Rodent's world famous bid to list the top 5 of everything in the world.

Rodents'
Top 5 excuses for not agreeing to an interview with Way Of The Rodent (probably):
"Sorry, where did you say you were from?" - Microsoft PR Dept
"------------------------------" - Dominic Diamond's Management Company (bastards)

"Me Love you Longtime" - Myamoto's Office, Nintendo Japan

"What sort of fees do you pay?" - Hendricksooon, Gizmondo Europe.

"Are you a proper journalist?" - Phil Harrison, Sony

"Hold It!" You're looking at the tit aren't you? Take that how you will.

Complete set of back issues here

Ah. Spring. The time when a youngs man's fancy turns to... Well, if this issue is anything to go by, hoovering, beard growth and the delights (or otherwise) of winter sports. Obvious really.

Thankyou all for the fabulous response to our plea for new content last month. As a direct result of your submissions, this month we see fantastic debuts from Tilted Kitty, Speedjack, Dave M and Treescavenger (with more to come next issue). Keep 'em coming.

Not wanting to be left out, TT continues in his quest to interview everyone who has ever caused him to throw a gamepad at the telly with Dave Perry (no, not that one) while Paul wraps up his American Odyssey in sombre style and Bog starts his stateside adventures in similar fashion.

We've also got a slight beardy smell around Rodent Towers this month with not one, nor two but three of those massively online thingies to boast about. Abandon all pretence of having a life and join myself, Tilted Kitty and Maibock on our virtual adventures.

Go. Read. Play. The Original Spirit demands it.

Cheers

Chris, Editor - May 2006
